Welcome to the Design Community

DFA’s campaign, “Welcome to the Design Community” is running  in Elle Decor and NYC&G, New York Cottages and Gardens, while other media partners including Luxe Design + Interiors are publishing this season. Those inspired by the ad are introduced to http://www.dfa.info where they are guided to members’ showrooms and design centers to learn, find and know more about design.

For example, for the first time ever on October 1st ADAC will open its doors, guided by a firm policy to drive business to the design professional. DFA and ASID along with ADAC, are working to generate more consumers of design by welcoming them to the showrooms, introducing them to designers and the value of design, supporting designers in their efforts to build healthier practices and by enhancing the entire client experience with design.

Leading the unification of showrooms, design centers, design professionals, media and manufacturers to stimulate the market, DFA will announce at its next meeting on December 3rd in New York, hosted by Hearst Design Group, plans for a joint conferenceamong DFA members, Design Centers International and ASID’s President’s Forum in Dallas late January. On the agenda is timely discussion of ‘the changing nature of the design profession and the to-the-trade model; and the changing nature of the design center in light of the changing nature of the market for design and decorative furnishings.’

Laguna Design Center Announces Visitors Center: DFA Town Hall Meeting Recommendation

The DFA town hall meeting in the Laguna Design Center produced several strategic recommendations for revitalizing the market. One of them aimed to widen access to the experience of design. Now, the Laguna Design Center is announcing the grand opening of its state of the art Visitor Center next month.

The Visitor Center is designed to welcome all guests to the Laguna Design Center.  The Visitor Center invites Interior Designers and the public to receive information about Laguna Design Center events, products and services.  The Visitor Center provides an opportunity for the public to be introduced to Interior Designers and review portfolios of Interior Designers who support the Laguna Design Center.  The Visitor Center will be holding a number of events including design presentations targeting the public and educating them on the benefits of working with an Interior Designer.
